***Both the 5K & 15K race courses will close after 2 hours (10:00 AM) due other scheduled events***

Start at 8:00 AM – Sunday, September 13, 2009 Northfield, Minnesota

Both the 5K Run/Walk and the 15K Run will start near the registration area and finish at the Northfield Historical Society Building (408 Division St.). This building is the original First National Bank of Northfield and the site of the infamous attempted bank robbery by the notorious James-Younger Gang in 1876. Both the 5K (MN05039RR) and the 15K (MN05038RR) USAT&F certified courses and are run completely on paved roads. The 5K is a moderate layout while the 15K is more challenging with several hills.

TheChampionChip computerized timing system will be used this again year for both the 5K & 15 events.

Race Day Registration/Packet Pick-up: 6:30 AM – 7:50 AM at the National Guard Armory (519 Division St, Northfield).

T-Shirts: All competitors whose registration is received on or before September 1st will receive their official Jesse James Days 5K & 15K t-shirt on race day. Those whose registration is received after September 1st may have to wait for their shirt. (Your shirt will be mailed)

Aid Stations: Aid stations will be located at the 2 mile mark of the 5K race and at the 2, 4, 6 and 8 mile marks of the 15K race.

Safety Concerns: No in-line skates, bicycles, or pets are allowed on the course. Baby-joggers are welcome. Head hones are permitted but please use caution as the race courses are not closed to traffic.

Age Groups/Awards: Top 3 female and male finishers in both the 5K & 15K races in the following age groups:

14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70 & over.

Wheelchair Division: Top 5 finishers in each race will receive an award.

Charity: Your old running shoes are welcome!!! Please drop your old running shoes off at the registration area. Shoes will be donated to “MARY’S PLACE”, a non-profit, transitional housing center for homeless individuals in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.

Are the Jesse James Courses Certified? Yes, both the 5K (MN05039RR) and 15K (MN05038RR) begin at 8:00 AM and are held on USA Track & Field Certified road courses. Race Day registration and Packet Pick-Up will be at the National Guard Armory (519 Division St). Both races start near the registration area and both finish at the Northfield Historical Society Building (408 Division St). Is there a time limit to complete these races? Yes, there is a 2 hour time limit to complete either event. We have to clear the finish area at 10:00 AM to make room for other scheduled events.

Do you use ChampionChip Timing? Yes, the “ChampionChip” timing system will be used again this year. All registered runners and walkers in both the 5K & 15K events will compete with the “ChampionChip”, utilizing a computerized timing system on their shoe.

What are the Entry Fees? The entry fee for registration received on or before September 1st is $20.00. The registration fee for entries received September 2nd or later is $25.00

How do I Register? You may register on-line at Active.com: http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1769239 or you may access a printable entry form on djjd.org. You may also e-mail dick@northfieldrunning.com to have an entry form e-mailed to you.

Do runners/walkers get a T-Shirt? Yes, all competitors whose registration is received on or before September 1st will receive their official Jesse James Days 5K & 15K t-shirt on race day. Those whose registration is received on September 2nd or after may have to wait for their shirt. In the event that we have to re-order, your shirt will be mailed.

Are there Aid Stations? Yes, Aid Stations (water and Gatorade) will be located at the 2, 4, 6 & 8 mile marks on the 15K course and at the 2 mile mark on the 5K.

What are the Age Groups and Awards? The fastest 3 female and male finishers in both the 5K & 15K races in each age group (14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70 & over) will receive a 15 0z. 2007 Jesse James 5K/15K award Mug.

Where does the money (proceeds) go from this event? This is a fund-raiser event for the St. Olaf College Women’s Cross Country Team. The team members volunteer to handle race day registration and packet pick-up, staff all four aid stations on the course, work the finish line and staff the a finish-line aid station.

Is there an additional charity to contribute to? Yes, you may donate your used running shoes to “Mary’s Place”, a non-profit, transitional housing center for homeless individuals in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Just bring your shoes to the registration area and we will do the rest!

May I wear headphones or in-line skates, or run with my pet, etc.? Headphones are permitted. However, The Jesse James race courses are not closed to traffic. Please use extreme caution! In-line skates, bicycles, or pets are not allowed on the race courses. Although Baby-joggers are welcome we urge you to be very careful.

Is there anything else to do on race day besides run? You bet there is! What a Weekend!!
