Defeat of Jesse James Days Horseshoe Hunt

2009 Clues: August 31st through September 5th.

Clue #1 (Monday)

The Shoe has been hidden in parks around town
On public property and city owned ground
Lots of changes have happened near the shoe’s hiding place
Old buildings encroached on City Park space
Remember the places where the Shoe has been found
Maybe it is there, or lying on new ground

Clue #2 (Tuesday)

If Bridge Square is Ground Zero, start your search there
Check out the fountain, if you dare
Search the trees and planters and walls made of stone
Monuments and statues and plants standing alone
Or move away from the borders that form our Downtown
To outlying parks where the Shoe might be found

Clue #3 (Wednesday)

Yes the shoe is in a park, where kids play everyday,
Adults walk their dogs and skateboarders make their way
This place is unique in its own special way
Put to many uses, depending on the day
Often it is sleepy, with few people around
Then it is busy, where large crowds abound

FOUND AFTER 3RD CLUE

Clue #4 (Thursday)

Many parks have seen changes around our town
Buildings were changed, or even torn down
For what was left, new uses were found
The changes were good, the park neighbors agreed
They have fulfilled, a community need

Clue #5 (Friday)

Around the park nice houses, stand silent guard
Their owners enjoying their “City owned“ yard
Northfielders flock, to their neighbors “front yard“
For concerts and playgrounds and words of the “Bard”
If they look for the Ash tree, next to a yew
There on the ground, will lay the Horseshoe

Clue #6 (Saturday)

High above the river, away from downtown
North gave us land that was on level ground
Central Park is beautiful, where old trees surround
A stone paved theatre, “In The Round.”
