The Lockwood Theater Company presents "Jesse"
Jesse James is coming back to Northfield - but this time he's singing, dancing and wearing a white hat!"Jesse" is Northfield's treasured musical retelling of the notorious train and bank robber's story. A rollicking good time for audience and cast alike, this family-friendly show is filled with great songs and dialogue that trace Jesse's life with his beloved wife, Zee, including the famed Northfield Raid. Performed in a 19th-century theater building and in the style of turn-of-the-century music hall melodramas, the audience is strongly encouraged to loudly cheer the heroes and hiss at the villains as the story unfolds through comedy and, of course, tragedy.
The show was written by Minnesota theater legends Robert and Marion Moulton. The clever and engaging lyrics were written by Vern Sutton, well-known as a writer/performer on Prairie Home Companion. The melody lines for the songs were suggested by William Huckaby and the orchestration of the entire show was fully realized by Donna Paulsen, who has led the orchestra and cast from the piano for every the production of the show.
All previous productions have sold out before opening night, so patrons are strongly encouraged to buy their tickets early!
